CDE (30 September 1893) reports Upton and Harvey were both injured at Stoke Swifts and didn't complete the match. Upton was off - possibly sent-off - at 0-1.
South Manchester Chronicle (2 February 1894) reports Cup-tie visitors Burton are top of the Midland League at present with no defeats from 12 games. They recently beat their neighbours from the town 4-0. Harvey missed part of the first half and Upton most of the second. Upton's loss was sorely felt. The gate totalled £59.
South Manchester Chronicle (23 February 1894) reports against Ardwick Upton was not expected but played and was angry with the Staffordshire newspapers who reported County had released him. He had joked with a penny-a-liner that he had been sacked and this was reported.
South Manchester Chronicle (15 March 1895) reports Moss was dropped after last week's display and old war horse Billy Upton was recalled.
South Manchester Chronicle (24 May 1895) reports it was decided to make a collection at the ground early next season for the benefit of the retiring player Upton who had served the club so well during the past few years.
