Probably the biggest attraction ever signed by County - Joe drew 22,500 to Edgeley for his debut game; around 18,000 more than the previous home game two weeks earlier. County were to be deducted points for playing him despite instructions not to as his registration was not in order. The former England international and twice FA Cup winner certainly repaid the cost of his signing. He was the first to score 5 in a League match and in his first full season scored a record 38 League goals. SCAN 328
