With 74 appearances in the 20s Fielding claims the outside left slot. He had joined from Mossley early in the 1926-27 season but was a bit part player for the next two seasons, when he had injury problems. Eleven goals in his first season as a regular saw him make his mark and after another impressive season helping County to a second consecutive runner-up spot it was top flight Grimsby who acted to sign him for a substantial fee.
